About Plymouth’s Tree & Shrub Sale Each year, Plymouth city staff selects plants that are well-adapted to local growing conditions and resistant to pests and diseases. They serve as good replacements for ash trees affected by Emerald Ash Borer or invasive species, such as buckthorn. They also provide food and shelter for pollinators, butterflies and other wildlife. Most of the trees are 5-6 feet tall at the time of purchase and are bare-root, which means they do not have soil on the roots. Bare-root trees cost less, are easier to transport and have up to 200 percent more roots than the traditional balled and burlapped plants. They are also easy to plant. Evergreen species come in pots and are 2-3 feet tall, while shrubs are bare root and 2-3 feet tall. More Information, Order Online Tree and shrub orders will be available for pickup 3-6 p.m. Friday, May 8 and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9 at the Plymouth Maintenance Facility. Leftover trees will be sold 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9 at the Maintenance Facility. Trees and shrubs do not come with a warranty. Quantities are limited. Plymouth residents are invited to attend the free presentation to ask questions and learn more about the options available to them. Presenters include city forestry staff and commercial tree service representatives. The first case of Emerald Ash Borer in Plymouth was confirmed in 2015. The small, invasive insect infects ash trees and spreads quickly, typically killing a majority of ash trees in its path. The presentation will answer the following questions regarding EAB: •How does it spread? •What is the city doing to slow down this infestation? •What should residents be doing with their own ash trees? •What options/methods do commercial tree care companies offer? For more information about EAB in Plymouth, visit plymouthmn.gov/eab. -30- Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 Bloomington-based Augusta Development has paid $4.99 million for the site for this proposed senior apartment complex at 3025 Harbor Lane N. in Plymouth. Some purchase prices and per-unit calculations have been rounded. A Bloomington developer planning to start work this month on 130 units of senior housing in Plymouth has paid $4.98 million for a 4-acre site at 3025 Harbor Lane. In a change from its original plans, August Development has relocated more than two dozen businesses and will demolish the 45,641-square-foot Plymouth Office Center, built in 1973 on part of the site, which lies in the northwest quadrant of Highway 55 and Interstate 494. The new L-shaped, four-story building will include independent senior units, assisted-living units and memory-care units. Page 11 “This our fifth project,” said Bo Nickoloff, managing partner for Augusta. The company also has senior projects in Edina, Richfield, Minnetonka and St. Paul. The name of the center and the cost haven’t been disclosed. Nickoloff said he originally planned to keep the office building, but negotiated a price that made it feasible to buy and use the entire site. An entity named GCP Augusta Plymouth closed Feb. 6 on the acquisition of the building and land from RSOC Real Estate Holdings in Plymouth. The $4,981,500 price works out to $1,245,375 per acre. The seller is an entity related to Plymouth-based Stern Real Estate Services, according to records on file with Hennepin County and the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office. The property last sold in 2002 for $6.95 million.
