I’m president of the Plymouth Gun Club. I want to share some very exciting news with you. You may or may not know that the High School Clay Target League got its start right here at the Plymouth Gun Club. Many students that have participated in this program have earned scholarships to help them with their post-secondary education expenses. We feel it is only a matter of time before we see some of these athletes participating in the Olympics. We are proud of our safety record. Since this program began over 18 years ago, not one single accident has occurred. Of the 45 extracurricular activities listed on the MSHSL website, no other activity can match this safety record. Trap/skeet shooting ranks number seven based on participation in this list. Recently Providence Academy asked if they could practice on Monday’s during the school spring season at Plymouth Gun Club. We informed the City of Plymouth of our desire to extend the hours to accommodate Providence Academy, and the city stated that the extension of hours is permitted by State Statute. Typically you don’t hear shooting on Monday at the Gun Club. I just wanted to give you a heads-up as to why you may hear shooting now on Monday. The students will be at the Gun Club from 3:30 p.m. until approximately 6:30 p.m. The spring season goes from approximately April 1, 2019 until June 1, 2019. That means the students will be at the club for nine days. If you have any questions or concerns about Providence Academy and Wayzata Middle Schoolers using the Plymouth Gun Club as their home base, please don’t hesitate to contact me. The fact that for the last several years Wayzata students that practiced at The Plymouth Gun Club on Tuesdays have earned Letters and become State Champions is testimony to the quality of our program and our commitment to young people. The club is open Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. until dusk, Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. until dusk, (closed Thursdays 10/15 until 5/1) and Saturday’s from 10 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. I hope you’ll find time in your schedule to visit the Club and get acquainted with our organization. Best regards, Jim Sable, President, Plymouth Gun Club, 612 554 2936, sjsable@comcast.net Page 14 City of Plymouth News Release For Immediate Release Feb. 20, 2019 Contact: Paul Pearson Recreation Supervisor City of Plymouth 763-509-5228 ppearson@plymouthmn.gov Explore recreation programs at Summer Preview Night March 14 Plymouth, Minn. – Plymouth Parks and Recreation Department will hold Summer Preview Night 5:30- 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at the Plymouth Creek Center, 14800 34th Ave. N.
