Minneapolis has a new public
company in Honeywell spinoff —
for now
Resideo Technologies is on the NYSE and will move its headquarters to Austin.
By Dee DePass Star Tribune
OCTOBER 30, 2018 — 7:23PM
Officials at Honeywell spinoff Resideo Technologies rang the bell at the stock exchange on Tuesday.

Honeywell spinoff Resideo Technologies is now trading on the New York Stock Exchange and will move
its headquarters from Minneapolis to Austin, Texas, the company said Tuesday.
Honeywell officially spun off its homes and global distribution businesses on Monday. Resideo is now
trading on the stock exchange under the symbol REZI. It has so far had a rough time, starting trading on
Monday at $28 and ending Tuesday down 8 percent to $25.82.
Page 8
Resideo said its future headquarters in Austin will employ roughly 100 employees.
Honeywell has had about 3,700 employees in Minnesota, including about 1,700 in Golden Valley, where
the company has traditionally run its homes and building controls automation business and has made
energy-efficiency and automated-temperature controls that are used in 150 million homes and by more
than 10 million commercial customers.
Going forward, Resideo will run the homes business. It will have about 14,500 employees worldwide,
including about 700 Minnesota workers who are mostly in Golden Valley.
"It's also worth noting that we are hiring for 35 open positions in Golden Valley," said Resideo spokesman
Trent Perrotto on Tuesday.
The company plans to move the headquarters to Austin in early 2019.
Perrotto said previously that the Twin Cities will continue to be an important location for both Honeywell
and Resideo. The spinoff now owns the Golden Valley facility, but Honeywell will continue to maintain a
presence at that site.
Honeywell is expected to retain about 2,681 employees in Minnesota — including about 800 in Golden
Valley, said Honeywell spokesman Scott Sayres.
Honeywell's Minnesota employees will continue to work in various businesses here such as defense,
aerospace, performance materials technologies and other divisions that now have operations in
Bloomington, Minneapolis, Plymouth, Coon Rapids and Golden Valley, Sayres said.
Honeywell will license its brand to Resideo under a long-term agreement for use in its home comfort and
security hardware, and software for all divisions. Former Hewlett Packard Enterprise executive Mike
Nefkens is Resideo's CEO.
"The spinoff of Resideo marks the completion of the portfolio transformation that we initiated last year,
leaving us in an even stronger position with a more focused and growth-oriented portfolio and industry-
leading businesses across attractive end markets," Honeywell CEO Darius Adamczyk said in a statement.
"Our simplified portfolio offers multiple levers to drive organic growth and continued margin expansion,
augmented by a vigorous and disciplined M&A strategy that will continue to generate tremendous value
for customers and share owners."
Page 9
Resideo is the second spinoff Honeywell completed this year. The other new company is Garrett Motion
Inc., Honeywell's former transportation systems business. That deal was completed on Oct. 1.
Honeywell first announced the Resideo spinoff a year ago.
Resideo will provide home-comfort and security products for homes. Its ADI Global Distribution business
will continue to be a wholesale distributor of security and low-voltage products.
Under the terms of the spinoff, Honeywell distributed one share of Resideo common stock for every six
shares of Honeywell common stock shareholders held as of 4 p.m. on Oct. 16.

Hy-Vee makes a twist in its Twin
Cities expansion, remodeling a
former Cub in Plymouth
Twin Cities fulfillment center for online orders will open in September.
By John Ewoldt Star Tribune
OCTOBER 29, 2018 — 9:27PM
The dining area of the new Hy-Vee in Robbinsdale, with nearly 230 seats, is the largest in the grocery
chain.
Hy-Vee for years has expanded around the Midwest with stores it designed and built. But on Tuesday, it
will take the rare step of opening a store in a former grocery.
Page 11
Hy-Vee will become the third supermarket to occupy the space at 16705 County Road 24 in Plymouth —
first the site of a Rainbow store and then a Cub Foods.
Cub's parent company Supervalu, which earlier this month became a unit of United Natural Foods Inc.,
closed the store in July. Hy-Vee announced soon after that it was taking over after a remodel.
The new store opens at 6 a.m. Tuesday and will then be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The store
will be the 10th and smallest Hy-Vee in the Twin Cities. It has 56,000 square feet of space while the nine
others range from 86,000 to 101,000 square feet.
"It's a size that we haven't done for a long time," Randy Edeker, chief executive of West Des Moines-based
Hy-Vee, said. "Sometimes the greatest ideas come when you're forced to be creative. You have a box that's
only this big."
Hy-Vee is also opening Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits, which took the place of Cellars Wine & Spirits that
closed last month in an adjacent center.
Hy-Vee has hired 250 employees, including 100 full-time, for the Plymouth store. It will eventually
employ 400.
Crews remodeled the site to include several elements that are typical of Hy-Vee, including a Starbucks,
mother's rooms, pharmacy, individual bathrooms and self-checkout lanes.
It also has several dining counters, an open seating area, bakery and salad bar. It won't have a pizza counter
or a n apparel department, which is being phased out of Hy-Vee's other stores in the Twin Cities. Basin
beauty, floral, pets and the baby departments are smaller. An in-store health clinic will open early next
year.
"I'm very much looking forward to trying Hy-Vee," said Carol Vander Velden of Plymouth as she came
out of nearby Fresh Thyme. "We buy a lot of organics, but we're also deal shoppers. We'll see how
competitive Hy-Vee is."
With a goal of bringing fresher products to customers faster, Hy-Vee will add a fulfillment center in the
Twin Cities expected to open in September. Omaha and the Kansas City area will also get fulfillment
centers. The location and number of employees needed have yet to be announced, but the size is expected
to be about 90,000 square feet.
Page 12
Hy-Vee executives did not add any new locations to the ones already announced in Spring Lake Park and
Maple Grove for 2019. Opening dates for Farmington, Columbia Heights, Chaska and a second Maple
Grove site have not yet been set, but spokeswoman Tina Potthoff confirmed that a store location in West
St. Paul is being "explored but not yet finalized."
Hy-Vee has 245 retail stores in eight Midwestern states. Around the Twin Cities, Hy-Vee has stores in
New Hope, Oakdale, Lakeville, Brooklyn Park, Eagan, Savage, Cottage Grove, Shakopee and
Robbinsdale. Edeker's goal is to have 20 stores in the Twin Cities, possibly adding four to five stores per
year in the future.
Hy-Vee also has 16 Minnesota locations outside the metro. The Waseca location recently closed due to a
dispute with the landlord, Edeker said.

LETTER: Thank you, Sarah Anderson
• Oct 30, 2018
It is with great thanks and appreciation that we write this letter in support of Sarah Anderson.
The relationship between the City of Plymouth and our Relief Association has at times been
tenuous, and it was Sarah Anderson who saw the opportunity for us to repair our important
partnership.
After years of disagreement, it was Sarah Anderson's leadership that brought the two sides
together to focus on a fair and amicable solution. We are pleased to report a renewed sense of
trust and cooperation, which is crucial for our city's public safety personnel. Fortunately, for the
people she represents, this is the type of proven leadership that Sarah brings to our State Capitol.
Sarah Anderson has shown that she has our back. She has earned our trust. She has earned your
vote.
