The City of Plymouth’s strategy for improving water quality focuses on pollution prevention first and storm water treatment second. The Surface Water Management Plan utilizes environmental and water resource inventories, monitoring data, public input and ordinances to outline best management practices and establish proactive programs and policies to most effectively manage and protect surface water. The city assesses the condition of water resources annually and develops strategies for achieving goals, which are outlined in the Surface Water Management Plan. The city updates its Surface Water Management Plan every 10 years to comply with requirements set by Bassett Creek, Elm Creek, Minnehaha Creek and Shingle Creek watershed management organizations, as well as those established by the Metropolitan Council and the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. Comments will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 9.
