Participants are encouraged to bring perennials and swap them for plants shared by others. To get involved, participants should place extra plants in pots and label them with their common names. Seeds and plant wares – pots, tools, books and the like – are also acceptable swap items. For more information, call City Forester Paul Buck at 763-509-5944. -30- Page 9 City of Plymouth News Release For Immediate Release Sept. 5, 2018 Contact: Paul Pearson Recreation Supervisor City of Plymouth 763-509-5228 ppearson@plymouthmn.gov Plymouth on Parade set for Sept. 22 Plymouth, Minn. – The 21st annual Plymouth on Parade is set for Saturday, Sept. 22. The free event begins at 10:30 a.m. with a parade, followed by entertainment and family activities noon to 2 p.m. The parade route spans Plymouth Boulevard, from 34th to 37th avenues. More than 70 units will participate, including firetrucks, unicycles and traveling performance groups such as the St. Paul Bouncing Team, Kracker Jacks Drum Line and Zuhrah Antique Cars. This year’s parade grand marshal is Mayor Kelli Slavik, who is serving her final term as Plymouth’s mayor. Slavik, who joined the Plymouth City Council in 1999 and was first elected mayor in 2006, has announced she will not seek re-election for mayor. Weather dependent, Slavik will ride on a Plymouth Ice Center Zamboni. Following the parade, free family activities and entertainment will begin at the Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd. Attractions include face painting, glitter tattoos, Pros of the Rope jump rope entertainers, henna tattoos, inflatables, balloon animals, and interactive juggling and balancing with entertainer Mike Monson. The event will also feature live music by Pan Dimensions, a steel drum duo performing Caribbean music. In addition, open swimming, gym and ice skating will be available at Life Time Fitness and the Plymouth Ice Center, next door to the Hilde. Attendees are encouraged to bring cash for food truck concessions. Those who tweet their photos using #PlymouthonParade may be retweeted by the City of Plymouth, @PlymouthMN_gov. Plymouth on Parade is sponsored by the City of Plymouth, TCF Bank, Allina Health/Abbott Northwestern-WestHealth, Life Time Fitness and CCX Media. Cutline: The 21st annual Plymouth on Parade begins 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 with a parade traversing Plymouth Boulevard, followed by free entertainment and family activities.
