R ESOLUTION N O. 2018-304
R ESOLUTION A DOPTING P OLICY ON THE S WEEPING OF THE C ITY M AINTAINED
S TREETS AND P ARKING L OTS AND A PPROVING THE P URCHASE OF A
N EW E LGIN P ELICAN 3-W HEEL S TREET S WEEPER
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the residents and natural
environment for the City to assume basic responsibility of sweeping City streets and City parking lots in
order to provide for vehicle and pedestrian safety, water quality and environmental protections, and
aesthetics; and
WHEREAS, adopting a Policy on the Sweeping of the City Maintained Streets and Parking Lots
would state the City’s responsibility in these areas; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a new street sweeper was approved in the 2012 Capital
Improvement Program for $250,000; and
WHEREAS, although approved by the City Council, the purchase was not made, and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth may make purchases off the State of Minnesota contracts; and
WHEREAS, Macqueen Equipment has a contract with the State of Minnesota for a sweeper that
meets the City’s specifications, contract #103153.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that:
1. The Policy on the Sweeping of the City Maintained Streets and Parking Lots is adopted.
2. The purchase of a new 2018 Elgin Pelican 3-Wheel Mechanical Street Sweeper for
$219,087.00 from Macqueen Equipment is approved.
3. Funding for the sweeper shall come from the Central Equipment Budget Fund.
