HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2018-045 C ITY OF P LYMOUTH R ESOLUTION N O. 2018-045 R ESOLUTION A UTHORIZING THE A DVERTISEMENT FOR B IDS FOR THE N ORTHWEST G REENWAY T RAIL S EGMENT F OUR C ONSTRUCTION P ROJECT PR140005.181 WHEREAS, the Northwest Greenway (NWG) is a long, natural east/west corridor with looping trails and connections to both local and regional trail systems; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has completed three segments of the NWG trail; and WHEREAS, segment four of the NWG trail will be completed in 2018 and includes construction of a 760 foot boardwalk with observation deck across the south end of the Elm Creek Wetland. In addition, 12 foot asphalt trails will be installed to connect the NWG boardwalk to the existing trail along Peony Lane and the trail on the east side of the wetland. The completion of this boardwalk will complete a trail loop around the wetland; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission unanimously approved the NWG segment four construction plans as presented at their January 11, 2018 meeting; and WHEREAS, SRF Consulting is recommending the trail project and is requesting authorization to prepare plans, specifications and initiate the bid process; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the project is $1,200,000 and will be financed utilizing Park Dedication Funds; and WHEREAS, the bid process will be initiated in late February and available for bid award at the March 13, 2018 City Council meeting. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the Northwest Greenway Segment Four trail construction project (PR140005.181) is approved, and furthermore, authorization to advertise for bids is approved. APPROVED by the City Council on this 23rd day of January, 2018.
