R ESOLUTION N O. 2017-368
R ESOLUTION A PPROVING F INAL P AYMENT TO B ECKER A RENA P RODUCTS, I NC.
FOR THE P LYMOUTH I CE C ENTER D ASHER B OARD P ROJECT (IC170001.171)
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth, as owner, and Becker Arena Products, Inc., as contractor, have
entered into an agreement for the purchase and installation of Dasher Boards at the Plymouth Ice
Center on the Eric J. Blank Rink (IC170001.171); and
WHEREAS, staff received quotes for a new dasher board system from three qualified ice arena
vendors (Becker Arena Products, Riley Manufacturing and Athletic Sports Systems). The project was
awarded to the low quote from Becker Arena Products, Inc. in the amount of $85,116.70 utilizing the
U.S. Communities contract (USC 022113); and
WHEREAS, on April 25, 2017, City Council approved a change order for the dasher boards,
upgrading to a supportless glass system; and
WHEREAS, at that same meeting, the City Council accepted a donation of $27,307.76 from
Wayzata Youth Hockey Association to cover the costs for the upgraded dasher boards. The donation
also covered the cost of additional stock glass and a glass lifter; and
WHEREAS, the contractor has submitted a request for final payment, which includes the
change order, in the amount of $112,424.46; and
WHEREAS, City staff has reviewed and accepted all work on this project; and
WHEREAS, The Dasher Board project (IC170001.171) was authorized at $112,424.46 utilizing Ice
Center Funds ($85,116.70) and a donation from Wayzata Youth Hockey Association ($27,307.76). With
the final payment of $112,424.46 to Becker Arena Products, Inc., the overall project cost is on budget.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that the final payment for the Dasher Board System to Becker Arena Products, Inc. in the
amount of $112,424.46 is approved.
APPROVED by the City Council on this 12th day of December, 2017.
