WHEREAS, as part of the 2017 budget process, staff identified needed improvements to the Administration/Administrative Services and Parks and Recreation work areas; and WHEREAS, on April 25, 2017, City Council authorized the advertisement of bids for the construction phase of the City Hall Remodel project and authorized the acquisition of furniture utilizing the State Contract through Interium, a Plymouth company; and WHEREAS, the overall project includes; construction (e.g. mechanical, electrical, carpet, wallpaper removal & painting), furniture (e.g. office areas, conference rooms), audio visual updates (e.g. data wiring, white noise), and miscellaneous items (e.g. equipment rental, consultant, contingency); and WHEREAS, on December 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., sealed bids were opened at Plymouth City Hall for the construction phase. Cates Construction, Inc. with a bid of $223,600; and WHEREAS, the project is scheduled in the Capital Improvement Program with an estimated cost of $900,000 utilizing the Facilities Fund. Project costs are inclusive of construction, furniture, audio visual, consultant and contingencies. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that staff is authorized and directed to enter into contract with J.S. Cates Construction, Inc. for the construction phase of the City Hall Remodel project, FM170003 for $223,600 utilizing the Facilities Fund. APPROVED by the City Council on this 12th day of December, 2017.
