HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1996-10CITY OF PLYMOUTH HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA ORDINANCE NO. 96-10 AN INTERIM ORDINANCE TEMPORARILY PROHIBITING NEW ADVERTISING SIGNS THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Definitions. The following terms whenever used in this ordinance shall be interpreted to mean: "Advertising Sign" is a sign which directs attention to a business, commodity, service, activity, or entertainment not necessarily conducted, sold, or offered upon the premises where such sign is located. SECTION 2. Intent. It is the intent of this ordinance to allow the City of Plymouth time to complete an in-depth study concerning changes in official controls, including the City's zoning ordinance, and in the interim to protect the planning process and the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the community. SECTION 3. Temporary Prohibition. Pending the completion of the above referenced study and adoption of appropriate official controls, new advertising signs are prohibited and no permit for a new advertising sign shall be processed or approved and no applications for such approval will be accepted. SECTION 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and publication and shall remain in effect until the date of the adoption of the official controls contemplated hereunder or April 30, 1997, whichever occurs first. 1996.
