Special Council Meeting
October 10, 2017
Deputy Mayor Wosje called a Special Meeting of the Plymouth City Council to order at 5:30
p.m. in the Medicine Lake Room of City Hall, 3400 Plymouth Boulevard, on October 10, 2017.
COUNCIL PRESENT: Deputy Mayor Wosje, Councilmembers Davis, Prom, Johnson, Carroll,
and Willis.
ABSENT: Mayor Slavik.
STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Callister, Administrative Services Director Fischer,
Community Development Director Juetten, Senior Planner Sommers, Public Works Director
Thompson, Park and Recreation Director Evans, six international students from Mankato State
University Mankato, and City Clerk Engdahl.
Wireless Facilities Rieht-of-Way Ordinance
Senior Planner Sommers provided a report on new legislation enacted in May 2017 regarding
small wireless facilities. This legislation grants wireless service providers access to the public
right-of-way to construct, maintain and operate small wireless facilities and wireless support
structures. Various sections of the City Code and Zoning Ordinance would need to be amended
to be consistent with State law. These amendments include requiring a permit for the placement
of the structures in the right-of-way (collocation agreement) and a conditional use permit to
locate the structures in a single-family residential district or historic district. Staff requested
direction from Council as the collocation agreements must be in place by November 30, 2017.
The Council indicated their support for these amendments which will be on a future regular
Council meeting agenda.
Adiournment
Deputy Mayor Wosje adjourned the Special Meeting at 6:28 p.m.
