R ESOLUTION N O. 2017-285
R ESOLUTION A PPROVING A G RANT A GREEMENT WITH THE
M INNESOTA D EPARTMENT OF P UBLIC S AFETY
FOR THE P ROJECT T OWARDS Z ERO D EATHS E NFORCEMENT G RANT
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, has established
the Towards Zero Deaths Grant, which enables police departments the opportunity to focus on traffic
violations in a collaborative manner; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth is collaborating with the cities of Maple Grove, Wayzata and
Minnetonka to enforce moving violations, unsafe driving practices, unbelted motorists, and target
impaired/distracted drivers; and
WHEREAS, the grant request of $119,250 was approved and awarded to the City of Plymouth by
the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety; and
WHEREAS, the Plymouth Police Department will be serving as the fiscal agent for this grant with
a term to expire September 30, 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that the grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic
Safety for the project named Towards Zero Deaths during the period from October 1, 2017 through
September 30, 2018 is approved and the Mayor and City Manager are authorized to execute said
agreement.
APPROVED by the City Council on this 12th day of September, 2017.
