C ITY OF P LYMOUTH
R ESOLUTION N O. 2017-283
R ESOLUTION A PPROVING J OINT P OWERS A GREEMENT WITH THE
C ITY OF M INNEAPOLIS FOR THE 2018 S UPER B OWL AND R ELATED A CTIVITIES
WHEREAS, the 2018 National Football League’s Super Bowl will be held in the City of
Minneapolis on February 4, 2018; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the Super Bowl, other related activities will occur in the cities of
Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Bloomington from January 26, 2018-February 5, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the City of Minneapolis procuring additional law enforcement personnel is a
necessity to provide public safety and security measures required for such a large and unique event; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has the ability to provide 16 police officers to assist with these
events; and
WHEREAS, approval of a Joint Powers Agreement between the cities of Minneapolis and
Plymouth is required in order to utilize police officers from Plymouth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that the Joint Powers Agreement between the cities of Minneapolis and Plymouth for the
2018 Super Bowl and related activities is approved and the Mayor and City Manager are authorized to
sign the agreement.
