HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2017-205 C ITY OF P LYMOUTH R ESOLUTION N O. 2017-205 R ESOLUTION S UPPORTING C APITAL A PPROPRIATION R EQUEST F OR R OCKFORD R OAD B RIDGE I MPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota has funded the expansion, renovation, or construction of vital bridges and interchanges across the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the interchange at I-494 and Rockford Road experiences approximately 11,000 vehicle trips per day; and WHEREAS, the current configuration of the interchange does not accommodate current levels of traffic and represents one of the most dangerous intersections in Hennepin County; and WHEREAS, the current configuration of the bridge limits pedestrian movements and presents a safety hazard to pedestrian traffic; and WHEREAS, congestion associated with the current configuration of the interchange stifles commerce in the area; and WHEREAS, a concept plan has been developed which would alleviate the safety and congestion concerns at the interchange; and WHEREAS, the estimated project cost is $15,920,000; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has $3 million available for maintenance of the bridge at this interchange, Hennepin County has $2 million available for maintenance of the interchange, and the City of Plymouth has $200,000 available to contribute to the project. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA supports the Capital Appropriation Request for 2018 in the amount of $10.72 million to the State of Minnesota for the Rockford Road Bridge Improvements. APPROVED by the City Council on this 13th day of June, 2017.
