R ESOLUTION A CCEPTING D ONATION FROM THE P LYMOUTH
C RIME AND F IRE P REVENTION F UND FOR THE P UBLIC S AFETY D EPARTMENT’S
C OMMUNITY E NGAGEMENT I NITIATIVE
WHEREAS, in 2015, the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing identified best practices within
law enforcement that strengthen community policing and build trust among police officers and the communities
they serve; and
WHEREAS, the Public Safety Department has developed a community engagement initiative to
achieve these best practices; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the community engagement initiative is to inspire a culture where police
officers and firefighters develop new relationships within the community in non-traditional ways; and
WHEREAS, these lasting collaborative relationships will help the Department and the community
build mutual respect and trust, reduce crime and enhance safety; and
WHEREAS, the Plymouth Crime and Fire Prevention Fund has donated $500 to support the
Community Engagement Initiative.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that the donation of $500 by the Plymouth Crime and Fire Prevention Fund is accepted.
APPROVED by the City Council on this 23rd day of May, 2017.
