R ESOLUTION A CCEPTING A D ONATION FROM W AYZATA Y OUTH
H OCKEY A SSOCIATION FOR THE P LYMOUTH I CE C ENTER D ASHER B OARD P ROJECT

WHEREAS, this project involves the replacement of the original dasher boards for the Eric J. Blank
rink which is being resized from an Olympic to professional facility as part of the ice systems improvement
project; and
WHEREAS, the dasher boards are 21 years old and are showing their age; and
WHEREAS, quotes were received from three vendors for the dasher board project, and
awarded to Becker Arena Products, Inc. in the amount of $85,116.70; and
WHEREAS, the Wayzata Youth Hockey Association (WYHA) is requesting an upgrade to the
dasher board system approved by City staff; and
WHEREAS, the upgraded supportless system provides a contiguous or unobtrusive view for
spectators and is considered more flexible, resulting in less concussion injuries; and
WHEREAS, WYHA’s donation will cover all costs associated with the supportless glass
system, additional stock glass and a glass lifter; and
WHEREAS, WYHA is providing a $27,307.76 donation for the upgraded supportless system and
additional amenities so that the Eric J. Blank rink and the Plymouth Ice Center will continue to be a premier
facility.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that the WYHA’s donation of $27,307.76 for the supportless glass system, additional stock
glass and a glass lifter for the Eric J. Blank rink is accepted.
APPROVED by the City Council on this 25th day of April, 2017.
