Special Council Meeting
February 28, 2017
Mayor Slavik called a Special Meeting of the Plymouth City Council to order at 6:00 p.m. in the
Medicine Lake Room of City Hall, 3400 Plymouth Boulevard, on February 28, 2017.
COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Slavik, Councilmembers Wosje, Willis, Prom, Johnson, and
Carroll.
ABSENT: Councilmember Davis.
STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Callister, Administrative Services Director Fischer,
Community Development Director Juetten, Public Works Director Cote, Park and Recreation
Director Evans, Economic Development Manager Parr and Office Support Representative
Gottschalk.
Cantel Medical Concept Plan
Paul Carlson and Paul Meyer from Cantel Medical gave a presentation on their company and
their goals for expanding the business. The presentation included the history of the company,
plans for building expansion and their three to five year plan. The Council provided feedback to
Mr. Carlson and Mr. Meyer and asked City staff to work with Cantel Medical, and if necessary,
recommend the scheduling of special meetings in order to accommodate the company's
timelines.
EDA Update
Economic Development Manager Parr suggested a study session on March 28 at 5:30 p.m. for
the purpose of meeting with brokers. Staff will confirm on March 14 whether this meeting
would be scheduled after contacting potential brokers.
Economic Development Manager Parr requested feedback from the Council on inviting other
individuals and groups to visits with local businesses, for example, TwinWest, Enterprise, and
local elected representatives. Some concerns were raised about what platform would be used
during the visits and who would lead the visits. The Council requested that the City be in charge
of the visits but other interested individuals or groups could be involved.
Set Future Study Sessions
No future study sessions were scheduled.
