R ESOLUTION A PPROVING F INDINGS OF F ACT FOR A MENDING Z ONING O RDINANCE
S ECTION 21655.52 (2016087)
WHEREAS, Kaas Wilson Architects has requested approval of a planned unit development
amendment to allow wall signage for The Axis Apartments located at 350 Nathan Lane North, presently
legally described as Lots 1 and 2, Block 1, Homestead Village Incorporated, according to the recorded plat
thereof, Hennepin County, Minnesota; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed said request at a duly called public hearing;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted an ordinance amending the zoning ordinance text.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does approve the request by Kaas Wilson Architects to amend
Section 21655.52 169 & 55 Apartments, based on the following findings:
1. The proposal is consistent with the LA-5 land use designation on the comprehensive plan land
use plan map.
2. The proposal provides for variations to the strict application of the sign regulations in the
zoning ordinance and incorporates design elements to offset the effect of any variations.
3. The signs protect and promote the aesthetics and general welfare of the city.
4. The signs attract additional attention to the building, enhancing its prominence at this
gateway entry.
5. The signage proposed is in keeping with the height of the building and location along two
highways.
6. The signs are sized and located to minimize their impact on the adjacent residential areas.
7. Allowing an illuminated sign on the north side of the building would not impact adjacent
residents.
