HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2016-378 C ITY OF P LYMOUTH R ESOLUTION N O. 2017-378 R ESOLUTION A PPROVING THE 2017 C OMPENSATION AND C LASSIFICATION P LAN FOR N ON-R EPRESENTED E MPLOYEES WHEREAS, the classification and compensation plan has been updated to align with the 2017 budget which has been submitted to the City Council for review and approval; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the work performed by employees for the City should be recognized through formal wellness and recognition programs; and WHEREAS, the City Council further believes that wellness and recognition programs often result in employee job satisfaction and productivity which result in excellent customer service for residents and businesses; and WHEREAS, the City Council further believes that the safety practices of City employees have a direct impact on public service and on reduced rates for insurance and workers’ compensation claims; and WHEREAS, non-represented police and fire personnel are required to wear and maintain uniforms; and WHEREAS, City staff has developed a recognition program for volunteers based on their service to the community; and WHEREAS, the programs listed herein provide a direct benefit to residents and local businesses; and WHEREAS, these programs have been funded under the appropriate line items in the budget as presented to the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and does: 1. Approve the 2017 Classification and Compensation Plan and the 2017 health and dental insurance plans and contributions for non-union employees and employment agreement amendments for the City Manager. 2. Approve an annual clothing allowance of $950 for 2017 for regular police and fire personnel. 3. Approve the following changes in the City’s 2017 staffing levels: FTEs Positions -0.50 Solid Waste Coordinator 2.00 Patrol Officers 0.25 Ice Arena Office Support Representative (from part-time to full-time) 1.00 Assistant Ice Arena Manager 6.00 Full-time Firefighters 0.25 HRA Specialist (from part-time to full-time) Public Works Office Support Representative (from 0.60 temporary to part-time regular) 0.37 Recreation Office Support Representative (from part-time to full-time) 4. Approve continuation of volunteer and employee recognition and wellness and safety programs as budgeted. 5. Direct the City Manager to proceed with the ongoing implementation and maintenance of the compensation plan and its components. APPROVED by the City Council on this 13th day of December 2016.
