INSPIRED ATHLETICS LLC (2016084) _ Vice-Chair Anderson introduced the request by Inspired Athletics LLC for a conditional use permit for a sports and fitness facility for property located at 2010 E. Center Circle. Senior Planner Drill gave an overview of the staff report. Vice-Chair Anderson asked where the applicant intends to place signage. Approved Minutes 1 of 2 Meeting of November 2, 2016 Senior Planner Drill responded that signage would primarily be over the front door, noting that the allowed amount is much greater than what will likely occur. Vice-Chair Anderson asked if other users in the building are parking intense, and if that would leave enough parking for the applicant. Senior Planner Drill responded that the other tenants in the building have low parking demands. He also stated that he has observed an abundance of vacant parking spaces when visiting the site. Senior Planner Drill noted that the nature of industrial districts in the city has shifted from the traditional heavier industry to more office and more of the type of use proposed here. Vice-Chair Anderson introduced Grant Norland, representing the applicant, who stated he was available to answer any questions. Vice-Chair Anderson asked Mr. Norland if he intends to put signage just on the building or in other locations as well. Mr. Norland responded that he intends to just have signage on the building, but has not spoken with the landlord about what other options may be available. Commissioner Kovach asked who their competitors are. Mr. Norland responded that they are carving out a new niche industry, combining physical therapy, sports training, sports psychology, and nutrition services into one facility and serving a wide spectrum of age groups from professional athletes to high school and youth athletes. He added that you might consider the Mayo facility downtown as a competitor. Vice-Chair Anderson opened the public hearing and closed the public hearing as there was no one present to speak on the item. Commissioner Saba said he looked at the safety issues, the entrance, etc. and found they all looked good. He said he thinks this is a good use in this location.
