R ESOLUTION N O. 2016-239
R ESOLUTION A WARDING C ONTRACT FOR THE
2017 P EDESTRIAN R AMP AND C ONCRETE R EPLACEMENT P ROJECT (17001)
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the 2017 Pedestrian Ramp and Concrete
Replacement Project, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to State law, and the
following bids were received complying with the advertisement:
Contractor Total Bid
Ti-Zack Concrete, Inc. $209,625.00
New Look Contracting, Inc. $235,550.00
Concrete Idea, Inc. $261,935.00
Klein Underground $264,675.00
Erickson Builders & Co, Inc. $276,706.80
Engineers Estimate $233,300.00
WHEREAS, it appears that Ti-Zack Concrete, Inc. of Le Center, MN, is the lowest responsible
bidder, complying with the minimum qualifications; and
WHEREAS, the line item for mobilization included in the bid submitted by Concrete Idea, Inc.
amounted to 41% of the total bid amount which exceeds the limit of 5% as set forth in the project
specifications; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer recommends awarding the project to Ti-Zack Concrete, Inc. out of
Le Center, MN.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA:
1. The appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into the contract for
the bid with Ti-Zack Concrete, Inc. of Le Center, MN, in the name of the City of Plymouth for the
2017 Pedestrian Ramp and Concrete Replacement Project in the amount of $209,625.00.
2. The bid submitted by Concrete Idea, Inc. is hereby rejected.
3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all the bidders the
deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next
lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
4. The funding for this project will come from the Street Reconstruction Fund in the amount of
$220,106.25.
