HomeMy WebLinkAboutHousing & Redevelopment Authority Resolution 88-02CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the City of Plymouth. Minnesota, was held on the 17th day of MA&A_, 19$t_ The following members were present: ng memoers were Commissioner Gutzman introduced the folly=ging Resolution and moved its adoption: HRA RESOLUTION 88-02 ESTABLISHMENT OF HOME IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM INCOME LIMITS AND GRANT LIMITS FOR THE CDBG PROGRAM, YEARS XIII AND XIV WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth believes that the Home Improvement Grant Program provides an effective way of rehabilitating older dwellings and reducing scarce energy resources; and; WHEREAS, Hennepin County and HUD allow each municipality within the Urban County to set its own income limits, provided they are no greater than the HUD adopted Section 8 income limits; and, WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has been using the same income and grant limits since 1982, i.e., $13,500 annual income limit for a one person household with a $1,000 income limit per each additional household member and a grant limit per house of $8,250; and, WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth believes that periodic increases in income limits and maximum grant amounts is appropriate to reflect increases in the cost -f living, building materials and labor; and, WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently established Section 8 income limits for very low income families as follows: One Person Household 14,250 Two Person Household 16,300 Three Person Household 18,300 Four Person Household 20,350 Five Person Household 22,000 Six Person Household 23,600 Seven Person Household 25,250 Eight Person Household 26,850 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it be recoramended t;, the Plymouth City Council that the maximum home improvement grant be seg at 10,000 and that the annual income limits be as per the recently established HUD annual income limits for very low income families. see next page) Resolution No. 88-02 Page Two n U FURTHER, that this resolution take effect the date of its adoption for those applicants where home improvements have not yet started. The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by--Egmminioner Crain , and upon vote being taken thereon, the followifig voted in favor thereof: Chairman Neils_ Commissioners Frain Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly
