VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the
Village Council of the Village of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the
5th day of April, 1971. The following members were present: Mayor Hilda,
Councilmen Johnson. Spaeth and Hunt. Councilman Hintz was absent.
Mayor Hilda introduced the following resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 71-126
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION OF SENATE
FILE 588 AND HOUSEFILE655 INCREASING THE
LENGTH OF TRUCKS PERMITTED ON FOUR LANE STATE
RIC -WAYS
WHEREAS, efficiency in transportation in vital to the economy of
the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota truck length lags are substantially more
restrictive than the laws of the wloTity of other states having the
effect of making Minnemots an Island of insufficient trucking practices,
and
WHERJrAS. these variations affect afficienty in operations and
result in it -,T-ased transportation costs thereby putting Minnesota industry
at a competitive elimadvantage; and
WHEREAS, the business and commercial economy of Plymouth in highly
dependent upon efficient and economical truck transportation:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF PLYMOUTH. AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Village Council endorses and supports Senate File 588
and Houma File 655, which, t;),en adopted, would authorize
65 -foot combinations of track -trailer, semi -trailer and
criiler to operate on four lane highways in the State of
Minnevota.
2. The representatives of the people of Plymouth are herewith
called upon to support and work for the adoption of this
legislation and the Clerk is hereby directed to transmit
copies of thisresolution to the aforem-antioned Representatives,
the Chatimen of" the, ap"+ ropriate legislative committees, and to
the Governor of the State of Minnesota.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly
seconded by Councilman Johnson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the
following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Johnson, Spaeth
and Hunt. No one voted against. Whereupon the resolution was declared
duly passed and adopted.,
