HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2000-587CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2000-587 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDING FROM THE MINNESOTA SAFETY COUNCIL AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO THE GRANT AGREEMENT WHEREAS, a need has been identified to educate pedestrians and drivers about Minnesota's crosswalk law to gain compliance with it; and WHEREAS, the City Council has given this need a high priority for this year; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Safety Council has notified cities of grant funding available for these types of programs; and WHEREAS, the Public Safety Department did coordinate efforts to begin one project which was very successful in raising public awareness of this problem and made application for another grant in order to continue this project; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth made application for this funding and received notification of acceptance of our grant and a check in the amount of $1,704. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council adopt the resolution endorsing a program to address pedestrian and crosswalk safety within the City of Plymouth through a public information campaign, traffic enforcement, and positive reinforcement; accepting grant funding for this project through the Minnesota Safety Council and authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to enter into the grant agreement. Adopted by the City Council on December 19, 2000.
