HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2000-540CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2000-540 REVISING THE POLICY FOR SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DEFERMENT FOR HOMESTEAD PROPERTY OWNED BY SENIOR CITIZENS AND DISABLED PEOPLE WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has adopted a policy which allows senior and disabled persons to apply for deferment of special assessments based on income guidelines; and WHEREAS, the policy does not allow for an individual to have excess income in a given year; and WHEREAS, if an individual exceeds the income guidelines the special assessments become due and payable which could create a financial hardship; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH; that the attached revised policy for special assessment deferment for homestead property for senior citizens and disabled people be approved which allows an already qualified individual to retain the deferment even though the annual income is not more than 150% in excess of the income guidelines and revise the policy to include criteria for deferment termination. Adopted by the City Council on November 14, 2000.
