RESOLUTION NO. 2000-322
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN ADULT CADET PROGRAM
IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Police Department and the City have recognized the need for a program
to assist in finding and hiring good potential police officer candidates; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of this need, we have budgeted for and participated in an
adult cadet program through the Northwest Human Services Council; and
WHEREAS, staff conducted a review of the program; and
WHEREAS, staff has identified a current internal candidate with much potential; and
WHEREAS, we believe the City can effectively run an internal adult cadet program for
the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council adopt the resolution authorizing City staff to
operate a Police Cadet Program internally including:
1) recruiting and hiring candidates,
2) employing the cadet as a part-time temporary employee, and
3) paying for the cadet's tuition and books for all courses required for the attainment of a
police officer's license while the candidate remains in the program.
