RESOLUTION NO. 2000-244
AGREEMENT NO. SG -99-160 BETWEEN THE
METROPOLITAN COUNCIL AND THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH FOR
PRIVATE VEHICLE CAPITAL FUNDING
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has authority in accordance with Minnesota Statutes
Section 473.405 to operate public transit systems in the metropolitan area and to exercise all
powers necessary or convenient to discharge its duties; and
WHEREAS, through its contracts with private transit service providers Plymouth Metrolink
on behalf of the City of Plymouth is operating replacement public transit service pursuant to
Minnesota Statutes Section 473.388; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has determined that it is desirable to provide a grant
to the recipient of Council transit bond proceeds for the purpose of paying the vehicle capital
costs, specifically, the vehicle depreciation costs associated with operating the replacement
public transit service through Plymouth Metrolink's contract with Laidlaw Transit Service,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS, in consideration of terms in Contract No. SG -99-160, the parties have agreed to
a maximum funding amount not to exceed $300,000; and
WHEREAS, the method of reimbursement has been mutually agreed to be $25,000.00 per
month for twelve equal monthly payments for the private vehicle capital costs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That the Mayor and City Manager are authorized
to execute the agreement (Contract No. SG -99-160) between the Metropolitan Council and
the City of Plymouth for the purpose of paying the vehicle capital cost, specifically the
vehicle depreciation costs, associated with operating Plymouth Metrolink service through a
contract with Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc.
