RESOLUTION 2000-167
APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT WITH
LAIDLAW TRANSIT SERVICES, INC. FOR
PLYMOUTH METROLINK AND DIAL -A -RIDE SERVICES
WHEREAS, The City of Plymouth under the Minnesota Transit Demonstration Project commonly
known as "Opt -Out," has initiated the Plymouth Metrolink and Plymouth Dial -A -Ride Transit
Programs; and
WHEREAS, The City annually submits an application to the Metropolitan Council for the funding
required for the provision of such programs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been apprised of the proposed program for Calendar Year 2000,
including its funding implications; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 95-234 authorized the Mayor and City Manager to enter into
contractual agreements with National School Bus Services, Inc. for the provision of transit services
for Plymouth Metrolink from March 27, 1995 through March 26, 2000; and
WHEREAS, The operations of Plymouth Metrolink and Plymouth Dial -A -Ride are closely integrated
with Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc. (LTS) and Metro Transit, and the continuation of existing service
and implementation of planned new services requires service provision continuity with contracted
service providers. Issues such as vehicles, dispatch, and route operational integrity are crucial; and
WHEREAS, during the lifetime of this contract new vehicles will be provided on an agreed upon
schedule.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That it should and hereby does authorize the Mayor and the City
Manager to enter into a contractual agreement with LTS for the provision of required buses for
required transit services for Plymouth Metrolink and Plymouth Dial -A -Ride the period from March
27, 2000 through March 26, 2005 based on the contract prices detailed below:
