RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF
A FORD EXPEDITION FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS
WHEREAS, the Plymouth Fire Department has entered into an agreement with the State of
Minnesota to provide response capabilities in the event of a radiological emergency at the
Monticello or Prairie Island nuclear facilities; and
WHEREAS, this contract requires the department to purchase or lease a vehicle; and
WHEREAS, the State contract on this vehicle is extended to municipalities; and
WHEREAS, this contract allows for dual use and will enhance our command response
capability during normal fire operations; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed most economical to purchase a vehicle through a Hennepin
County bid from an authorized dealership at a cost of $27,027.00; and
WHEREAS, the State has funding available to replace the funds spent from the City's 2000
Central Equipment Fund for the vehicle; and
WHEREAS, if the purchase of the vehicle is made before June 30, 2000, $13,513.50 is
immediately available from the 2000 fiscal year funds, with the remaining costs reimbursed after
July 1, 2000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH, that the purchase of a Ford Expedition for the use of the Fire Department
is authorized from the Central Equipment Fund through a Hennepin County bid from an authorized
dealership at a cost of $27,027.00; and the City will pursue replacement of the funds with
$13,513.50 prior to June 30, 2000 and the remainder after July 1, 2000.
