HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2000-047CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2000-047 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER ACCEPT THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY INCENTIVE BLOCK GRANT FUNDING AND ENTER INTO A MULTIDURISDICTIONAL PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR THE SHOCAP PROJECT WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has been notified it is eligible for $13,296 in block grant funds from the Minnesota Department of Economic Security for a juvenile accountability incentive; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has no projects of its own that meet the criteria for the funds; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has an opportunity to commit these funds to the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee for use its Serious Habitual Offender Comprehensive Action Program or SHOCAP; and WHEREAS, as part of this program, the City would then have opportunity to join in the project working to provide a county -wide database to share juvenile information across jurisdictions within the County; and WHEREAS, Hennepin County and the cities of Minneapolis, Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Crystal, Edina, and Golden Valley have likewise committed their block grant funds to this project; and WHEREAS, there would be no cost to the city for this participation as the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee has agreed to accept responsibility for acting as the fiscal agent and meeting the required matching funds; and WHEREAS, the City Council agrees this is a beneficial use of manpower and equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCI OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council authorizes the City Manager to accept the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant in the amount of $13,296 and dedicate the funds to the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee for use in this SHOCAP Project. Adopted by the City Council on January 18, 2000.
