RESOLUTION NO. 2000-046
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND
PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR TO ENTER INTO A JOINT
POWERS AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has determined that reducing youth access to alcohol
is one of its top goals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth as part of this effort has committed to conducting
compliance checks of all licensed liquor establishments within the City; and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota has entered into a federal grant program to combat
underage drinking; and
WHEREAS, as part of this federal grant program, the State needs to reimburse local
jurisdictions for their participation through conducting compliance checks; and
WHEREAS, this agreement covers the period August 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000 and
requires local jurisdictions to conduct compliance checks and report findings back to the State
and allows for reimbursement up to $3,240.00; and
WHEREAS, the City Council agrees this is a beneficial use of manpower and equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council authorizes the City Manager and Public Safety
Director to sign the necessary joint powers agreement documents with the State of Minnesota,
acting through its Department of Public Safety, Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division.
