RESOLUTION 2000-033
APPROVING MILLENNIUM GARDEN PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Plymouth City Council wishes to celebrate the arrival of the third millennium;
and
WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Advisory Commission has proposed funding for the
development of a millennium garden project to be located within Plymouth Creek Park; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has presented a concept plan and preliminary
budget for a Millennium Garden Project,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLYMOUTH CITY COUNCIL that the
Millennium Garden Project is officially adopted as the millennium project for the City of
Plymouth, and further, that the Director of Parks and Recreation is authorized to proceed with
the selection of consultants to prepare a millennium garden design and budget to be brought back
to the City Council, and further, that the City will commence a fund raising program as outlined
in the Director of Parks and Recreation's staff memo in an effort to raise $100,000 or more, and
further that the Director of Finance is authorized to set up an account to receive contributions for
the Millennium Garden Project, and further, that the initial design cost shall be charged to Park
Dedication funds.
