RESOLUTION NO. 2000-028
AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH
MINNESOTA VALLEY TRANSIT AUTHORITY
UTILIZING THEIR OPEN BID OPTION FOR PURCHASE OF
TEN 32 FOOT BLUEBIRD CS TRANSIT VEHICLES
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth adopted a resolution supporting application for Transit Capital
Funding from the Metropolitan Council for replacement buses and fleet expansion on September
7, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Plymouth Metrolink staff submitted an application to the Metropolitan Council
for Regional Transit Capital Funding for 23 transit vehicles in the amount of $3,000,000; and
WHEREAS, the application process indicated that the City of Plymouth would pay the required
20% match for the grant from Budget Carryover Funds of the Plymouth Metrolink system; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of staff that it is possible to acquire up to ten new 32
foot Bluebird CS transit vehicles through an open bid process being utilized by the Minnesota
Valley Transit Authority; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth must notify Minnesota Valley Transit Authority prior to
January 10, 2000 of their intention to acquire the ten vehicles through this bidding process; and
WHEREAS, staff has investigated the process and evaluated the vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the vehicles can be acquired through this process for $160,000 each or a total of 1.6
million dollars; and
WHEREAS, additional vehicles are necessary to provide service in western Plymouth from two
new park and ride sites, and the acquisition of these vehicles can be accomplished within
approximately 180 days.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That City staff is authorized and directed to contact
Minnesota Valley Transit Authority informing them of the City of Plymouth's desire to purchase
ten 32 foot Bluebird CS transit vehicles as part of their overall bid process.
Adopted by the City Council on January 4, 2000.
