HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2011-110CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION No. 2011-110 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE NEGOTIATION OF A CONTRACT WITH FIRST TRANSIT, INC. FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF PLYMOUTH METROLINK PUBLIC TRANSIT SERVICES WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth as Plymouth Metrolink provides transit services pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 473.388; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth transit program is supported through Metropolitan Council with fares, regional, state and federal funds; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the city to utilize transit fiends in the most cost effective manner; and WHEREAS, the existing contract for operation and maintenance of Plymouth Metrolink public transit services with Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc., now known as First Transit, Inc., expires December 3, 2011; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the city to negotiate a contract with First Transit, Inc. for the operation and maintenance of Plymouth Metrolink public transit services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the city hereby adopt this resolution authorizing negotiation of a contract with First Transit, Inc. for the operation and maintenance of Plymouth Metrolink public transit services for five years effective December 4, 2011, through December 3, 2016. APPROVED THIS 12TH DAY OF APRIL, 2011.
