HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1999-133CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 99-133 AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH'S APPLICATION FOR THE METRO GREENWAY GRANT APPLICATION: PLYMOUTH CREEK GREENWAY ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION GRANT (S V2 Section 16; N V2 Section 21, T118N, R22W). WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources that applicants must adopt a resolution indicating its willingness to act as a sponsoring unit for a Metro Greenway Grant; and WHEREAS, the Plymouth Creek Greenway Corridor is a focal point of the Plymouth City Center; and WHEREAS, this site was initially surveyed during the Plymouth Natural Resources Inventory (1994) and identified as a high quality wetland and a significant ecological resource worthy of protection and management; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has recently worked to develop trails and passive recreational amenities along this greenway to increase its ecological value and public awareness; and WHEREAS, the City's goals for this site are to restore the wetland communities and enhance opportunity for environmental education. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: that the City of Plymouth is willing to sponsor the project identified as the Plymouth Creek Greenway Ecological Restoration Grant Adopted by the City Council on March 16, 1999.
