HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1998-521CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 98 - 521 ADOPT THE REVISED POLICY CONCERNING REQUESTS FOR STOP SIGN INSTALLATION WHEREAS, the City Council placed a moratorium on citizen requests for All -Way stop sign installations at their October 15, 1997 meeting; and WHEREAS, the City Council reviewed the City of Lakeville's All -Way Stop Control Policy at their November 12, 1997 study session and at their special Council meeting on December 10, 1997; and WHEREAS, staff has developed a revised Stop Sign Policy for City Council consideration based on input received from the City Council and the Lakeville Policy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That the City Council adopts the following revisions to the current City policy concerning requests for stop sign installation adopted by Resolution No. 90-583 on September 10, 1990: 1. Under Point Number 5 change 70% to "over 50%." 2. Add Point Number 6 as follows: "If a petition is submitted which meets the above requirements and is requesting an All -Way stop sign installation at the intersection of two residential streets with a speed limit of 30 m.p.h., the City Engineer will complete a Residential Street All - Way Stop Control Justification Worksheet for the requested intersection. The results of this worksheet will be used in the analysis of the All -Way stop request by the City Council. FURTHER, that the moratorium is no longer in effect.
