HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1998-454CITY of PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION 98-454 AUTHORIZING THE PLYMOUTH AUTHORITY TO PURCHASE OUTLOT THROUGH HENNEPIN COUNTY HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT D, BASS LAKE HEIGHTS ADDITION WHEREAS, demand for affordable single family housing in Plymouth far exceeds the supply due partly to the high cost of land in the City; and, WHEREAS, the opportunity exists for the Plymouth Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) to purchase through Hennepin County a vacant buildable tax forfeited property of almost 2.5 acres at a price to be determined by Hennepin County; and, WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 469.041, authorizes the County to convey property to the HRA for as low as no cost; and WHEREAS, the City Council supports the purchase of the property by the HRA at a minimum price equal to the assessments owed on the property for the development of affordable single family homes; and, WHEREAS, the City Council's approval of the purchase of the property by the HRA has been requested by Hennepin County as a condition for the County to consider such a sale. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it hereby authorizes the Housing and Redevelopment In and For the City of Plymouth to purchase through Hennepin County the tax forfeited property designated as Outlot D, Bass Lake Heights Addition (Tax Identification No. 03-118-22-41-0045), for the development of affordable single family homes; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council supports the HRA in its efforts to acquire this property through Hennepin County at a price in accordance with Minnesota Statutes 469.041 for the development of affordable single family homes.
