RESOLUTION 98-446
DENYING LAND USE GUIDE PLAN AMENDMENT AND REZONING FOR THE CITY OF
PLYMOUTH FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF
VICKSBURG LANE AND HIGHWAY 55, SOUTH OF 35TH AVENUE EXTENDED (98086)
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has requested reclassification of the land use guiding from CO
(Commercial Office) to CC (City Center) and rezoning from OR (Office/Residential) to CC—RE
(City Center—Retail Entertainment) for a roughly four -acre parcel located at the northwest
corner of Vicksburg Lane and Highway 55, south of 35th Avenue extended; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed said request at a duly called Public
Hearing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does deny the request by the City of
Plymouth for reclassification of the land use guiding from CO (Commercial Office) to CC (City
Center) and rezoning from OR (Office/Residential) to CC—RE (City Center—Retail
Entertainment) for a roughly four -acre parcel located at the northwest corner of Vicksburg Lane
and Highway 55, south of 35th Avenue extended, based on the following findings:
1. The site currently meets the location criteria as presently guided.
2. There is no compelling reason to reguide.
3. The site would be too intrusive for pedestrian traffic.
4. It does not make sense to include only a small portion of existing Outlot I into the City
Center District.
FURTHER, approval of the Land Use Guide Plan Amendment is contingent upon, and subject
to, the required review and response by the Metropolitan Council.
Adopted by the City Council on July 22, 1998.
