HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1998-428CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION 98-428 WHEREAS, the Plymouth Fire Relief Association has requested the City authorize an increase in the lump sum pension benefit from $4,000 per year of service to $5,500 per year of service effective August 1, 1998; and WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota allows fire relief associations to increase their pension benefits to a set maximum; and WHEREAS, the maximum allowed under Minnesota State Statute 424A.02 for 1998 is the $5,500 per year of service requested; and WHEREAS, in 36 years as an association, the Plymouth Fire Relief Association has never been a financial liability to the City of Plymouth; and WHEREAS, the City Council and City Staff agree the recommended change would be usefiil as an incentive tool for recruiting new firefighters. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council adopt the resolution authorizing an increase in the lump sum pension benefit for the Plymouth Fire Relief Association to $5,500 per year of service effective August 1, 1998. Adopted by the City Council on July 22, 1998.
