RESOLUTION NO. 98-380
AWARD CONTRACT
1998 STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT - PHASE II
CITY PROJECT NO. 8001
WIffiREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the 1998 Street Reconstruction Project -
Phase II, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law; and
WIffiREAS, the project was bid in two parts, Part A and Part B, and the bid contained a
deduction for the City to consider awarding both Parts to a single bidder; and
WIffiREAS, alternate bids were solicited for the storm sewer portion of the Part B project, and
the bids were to be considered based on the combination of a Base Bid plus each Alternate; and
WIffiREAS, the City has reserved the right to award the contract for each part individually, or as
a combination project including both Parts less the bid deduction amount; and
WIffiREAS, the following bids were received:

WIffiREAS, all bids received had discrepancies in the multiplication of unit work and unit prices;
and
WIffiREAS, the specifications state that these discrepancies will be resolved in favor of unit
prices and the multiplication and addition have been corrected to resolve the discrepancies in
determining the total bid; and
WIffiREAS, Hardrives, Inc. of Rogers, MN is the lowest responsible bidder for Part A, Part B
and both Parts in combination; and
WI-1EREAS, it has been determined that awarding both Parts of the project including Alternate
" 1 " to Hardrives, Inc. is in the best interests of the City.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA THAT the appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized and
directed to enter into the contract with Hardrives, Inc. of Rogers, MN in the name of the City of
Plymouth for the 1998 Street Reconstruction Project - Phase II Part A & Part B Alternate I
according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the
office of the City Engineer in the amount of $1,498,400.93.
