RESOLUTION NO. 98 - 146
APPROVING THE COMMENCEMENT OF A NEW TRANSIT SERVICE
INVOLVING THE 5310 GRANT VEHICLE IDENTIFIED AS THE
PLYMOUTH FLYER
WHEREAS, Plymouth Metrolink at the direction of the City Council successfully applied for
a Federal grant administered by MnDOT to obtain a new Transit vehicle through the 5310
Grant Program for integration into the Plymouth Metrolink system; and
WHEREAS, Federal regulations require that this vehicle be utilized specifically to service the
Transit needs of the elderly and disabled residents of Plymouth; and
WHEREAS, the vehicle has been delivered to Plymouth, striped, and identified as the
Plymouth Flyer with the reservation phone number, 509-5511, displayed prominently; and
WHEREAS, Plymouth Metrolink staff have recommended that service be implemented on
Monday, March 9, at 6:00 a.m.; and
WHEREAS, service will be provided daily Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00
p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the proposed service plan and service area has been defined in a staff report
from the Transit Administrator in a City Council agenda report dated February 23, 1998; and
WHEREAS, operating funds are available for this new Transit service in the Plymouth
Metrolink Management Plan and Budget for 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City Council Transit Subcommittee has reviewed the proposed service plan
and recommends its implementation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That the Transit Administrator is hereby directed
to implement the Plymouth Flyer service as proposed on Monday, March 9, 1998.
Adopted by the City Council on March 4, 1998.
