RESOLUTION NO. 98 - 122
CHANGING THE PERIOD FOR
SEASONAL WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
WHEREAS, Plymouth City Code Section 1305.05, subd. 1, prohibits, with some exceptions, the
operation of vehicles or a combination of vehicles upon any public street, alley or highway within the
City, during the period between March 20 and May 15 of each calendar year where the gross weight on
any single axle exceeds 10,000 pounds; and
WHEREAS, Plymouth City Code Section 1305.05, subd. 2 permits the City to prohibit the operation of
vehicles upon any or all public streets or alleys within the City by resolution, for cause shown; and
WHEREAS, the temperatures during the month of February have been unseasonably warm and
comparable to temperatures common for the months of March and April, which has precipitated an
early melting of the snow cover; and
WHEREAS, the unusually warm temperatures are forecasted to continue; and
WHEREAS, the City is concerned that the unseasonably warm temperatures and early melting of the
snow cover will result in damage to public streets or alleys within the City if the weight restrictions are
not implemented earlier than the March 20"' date provided under the City Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA:
For the 1998 calendar year, the weight restrictions provided under City Code Section
1305.05, subd. 1 shall apply during the period between February 19 through May 15.
