RESOLUTION NO. 2001-495
ORDER PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER AN AMENDMENT TO
CHAPTER 9 OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, WATER SUPPLY AND
DISTRIBUTION PLAN
WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Council on August 8, 2000;
and
WHEREAS, Chapter 9 of the Comprehensive Plan, Water Supply and Distribution Plan,
contains a comprehensive analysis of the City's water supply and storage needs to meet the
City's ultimate water demands based on the adopted land use plan; and
WHEREAS, the current Water Supply and Distribution Plan indicates the need for two
future water towers in northwest Plymouth at a combined capacity of 4 million gallons of
storage; and
WHEREAS, a report, Water Storage Alternatives, was prepared by the consulting firm,
TKDA, dated July, 2001 which indicates that a 6 million gallon ground storage reservoir
could be constricted on a City owned parcel located at Schmidt Lake Road and Vicksburg
Lane in lieu of the two potential water towers at a substantial cost savings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That a public hearing is set for the December 5,
2001, Planning Commission meeting to consider amending Chapter 9 of the City's
Comprehensive Plan, Water Supply and Distribution Plan, by deleting the two proposed
elevated water towers proposed in the northwest portion of the City and adding a 6 million
gallon ground storage reservoir along with any necessary revisions in the trunk pipe
distribution system.
