HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2002-261CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION 2002 - 261 APPROVING HIGHWAY 55 CORRIDOR COALITION JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT, APPOINTING MEMBERS AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF DUES FOR 2002 WHEREAS, Think Highway No. 55 is one of the most important transportation corridors in Plymouth and any changes west of Plymouth will affect the City as traffic moves to and from I-494 and the job centers in Plymouth and the rest of the Metro Area; and WHEREAS, the Highway 55 Corridor Coalition is being established to work together and with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to develop a preliminary plan and layout for the future boundaries and right-of-way needs of the highway corridor; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth shares the Mission of the Coalition to secure the right- of-way and related infrastructure improvements to increase safety and provide additional capacity, including additional lanes, improved access and transit services, where appropriate, in the Highway 55 Corridor between I-494 in Hennepin County and the western limits of the City of Annandale in Wright County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does: a) Approve and authorize the Mayor and City Manager to sign the Highway 55 Corridor Coalition Joint Powers Agreement; b) Authorize the payment of $1,000 to Wright County as the City's financial contribution to the Coalition for calendar year 2002; and c) Appoint Community Development Director Anne Hurlburt as Plymouth's representative and Public Works Director Dan Faulkner as alternate. Adopted by the City Council on June 11, 2002.
