HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2002-248CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2002-248 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE FOR PLYMOUTH DIAL -A -RIDE WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth provides transit services, including Dial -A -Ride, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 473.388; and WHEREAS, the efficient and effective operation of Plymouth Dial -A -Ride services is a critical element of these transit services; and WHEREAS, a technology upgrade for Dial -A -Ride dispatch, including mobile data terminals on the Dial -A -Ride buses, is a proven means of helping to achieve enhanced efficiencies and effectiveness of Dial -A -Ride services; and WHEREAS, Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc., the contracted service provider for Dial -A -Ride, has offered to provide an upgraded computerized dispatch system for use by Plymouth Dial - A -Ride; and WHEREAS, price quotes have been obtained from makers of mobile data terminals that are compatible with the computerized dispatch system offered by Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City to adopt a resolution approving a technology upgrade for Plymouth Dial -A -Ride dispatch, including the purchase and installation of mobile data terminals on Dial -A -Ride buses. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: 1. That the City hereby adopts this resolution approving a technology upgrade for Plymouth Dial -A -Ride, incorporating an upgraded computerized dispatch system to be provided by Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc. and mobile data terminals to be purchased from Grey Hawk Technologies, Inc. 2. That the Mayor and City Manager are authorized to enter into an agreement with Grey Hawk Technologies, Inc. for the purchase of mobile data terminals, software, installation and training, consistent with the staff memo dated May 16, 2002. Adopted by the City Council on May 28, 2002.
