RESOLUTION NO. 2002-015
GLEASON LAKE MANAGEMENT PLAN
AUTHORIZATION TO SUPPORT BWSR CHALLENGE GRANT
WHEREAS, the Gleason Lake Improvement Association (GLIA) has applied for and has received a
FY02, Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) Challenge Grant for the Gleason Lake
Management Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Gleason Lake Management Plan will be used to develop an ecological based lake
management plan that employs sustainable lake approaches to protect and improve Gleason Lake's in
lake and watershed resources including water quality, scenic, recreational amenities, fish, and wild life;
and
WHEREAS, the Gleason Lake Management Plan is consistent with the goals of the Plymouth Water
Resources Management Plan and will help to improve the water quality in the City; and
WHEREAS, the Gleason Lake Management Plan will be a cooperative effort between the Gleason
Lake Improvement Association (GLIA), the US Army Corps, Minnehaha Creek Watershed District,
the City of Plymouth, and Hennepin Conservation District as the project manager;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLYMOUTH, MN: that the City of Plymouth will provide up to $ 3,000.00 of cash and in-kind
contribution as the City's share of the $23,500 match for the Board of Water and Soil Resources
Challenge Grant to be used to develop the Gleason Lake Management Plan. The total cost to prepare
this Plan is $47,000.
Adopted by the City Council on January 8, 2002.
