HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2003-593CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2003-593 WHEREAS, the Plymouth Fire Relief Association has requested the City authorize an increase in the lump sum pension benefit from $6,500 per year of service to $7,000 per year of service effective immediately; and WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota allows fire relief associations to increase their pension benefits to a set maximum; and WHEREAS, the maximum allowed by the Minnesota legislature for is $7,500 per year of service; and WHEREAS, in 40 years as an association, the Plymouth Fire Relief Association has never been a financial liability to the City of Plymouth; and WHEREAS, the City Council and City Staff agree the recommended change would be useful as an incentive tool for recruiting new firefighters and retaining existing firefighters; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council adopt the resolution authorizing an increase in the lump sum pension benefit for the Plymouth Fire Relief Association to $7,000 per year of service effective immediately. Adopted by the City Council on December 16, 2003.
