HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2003-539CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2003-539 INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS FOR NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND COMSTOCK LANE AT 29TH AVENUE WHEREAS, as part of the City's Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program, the City has received a request from a resident concerned with the lack of traffic control at the intersection of Comstock Lane and 29th Avenue; and WHEREAS, the north and south approaches of Comstock Lane are considered the minor approaches of this intersection, carrying approximately one-quarter of the traffic entering the intersection; and WHEREAS, this intersection is located just east of Dunkirk Lane on one of two entrances to the Maple Dell neighborhood; and WHEREAS, since there is only 150 feet separating Dunkirk Lane from Comstock Lane, drivers entering the neighborhood from Dunkirk Lane have limited time to react to motorists on Comstock Lane; and WHEREAS, there is currently no control at this intersection and there have been three reported accidents in the last three years; and WHEREAS, for safety purposes and to clearly establish which driver has the right-of-way, the City Engineer has recommended that stop signs be placed on the north and south approaches of Comstock Lane at 29th Avenue; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that stop signs be installed for northbound and southbound Comstock Lane at 29th Avenue. Adopted by the City Council on November 25, 2003.
