HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2003-371CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2003-371 REQUESTING THE COMMISSIONER OF MN/DOT TO CONDUCT A SPEED ZONING STUDY FERNDALE ROAD FROM COUNTY ROAD 6 TO THE PLYMOUTH CITY LIMITS WHEREAS, the reconstruction of this roadway has changed the character of Ferndale Road; and WHEREAS, a speed zoning study has not been completed on this roadway since the reconstruction was completed in 1999; and WHEREAS, the design speed for the reconstruction of Ferndale Road was 30 miles per hour; and WHEREAS, the residential nature of this roadway with driveways located directly on Ferndale Road lends itself to a suggested lower speed limit; and WHEREAS, residents living along this roadway have safety concerns associated with high vehicle speeds along this roadway; and WHEREAS, many residents currently use the trail system on the east side of Ferndale Road, which connects County Road 6 to the regional Luce Line Trail; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That the City request that the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation undertake an engineering study to determine the safe and reasonable speed on Ferndale Road from County Road 6 to the Plymouth City Limits. Adopted by the City Council on August 26, 2003.
