HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2003-356CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 2003-356 SUPPORT EXPANSION OF THE POND FOR BC -107 TO INCLUDE A PORTION OF THE EAST BEACH PARKING LOT CITY PROJECT NO. 2037 WHEREAS, Bonestroo Rosene Anderlik and Associates has prepared a Feasibility Report and supplemental memorandum the for Medicine Lake Water Quality Ponds; and WHEREAS, the City Council approved the following configurations at the March 4, 2003 special meeting. • Subwatershed BC -P98 — Construct Option 3 of the Feasibility Report, a single pond west of East Medicine Lake Boulevard, in a way that could readily be converted to the Option 1 system configuration, two ponds, in future. Subwatershed BC -P107 — Construct Option 3 of the Feasibility Report, a single pond, in a way to support future conversion to Option 4, a two pond system; and WHEREAS, Bassett Creek Water Management Commission is planning to include these ponds in its Capital Improvements Program; and WHEREAS, additional information provided after the March 4, 2003 special meeting of the City Council indicates a significant benefit in expanding the pond proposed for Subwatershed BC - P107 into the East Beach Parking Lot; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That the City Council supports expanding the pond proposed to be constructed for Subwatershed BC -P107 to include approximately 40% of the East Beach Parking Lot and diverting flow from the existing storm sewer pipe as far downstream as feasible as presented in Option 5 of the supplemental memorandum prepared by Bonestroo Rosene Anderlik and Associates provided that it does not delay the project significantly. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That Option 8 is preferred if Option 5 is expected to delay the project since Option 8 is substantially similar to the previously approved Option 3 and removes more sediment at a lower cost. Adopted by the City Council on August 12, 2003.
